Headin’ South? Here are some great RV Parks to check out while you’re passing through the Southern US:
The south is is a great region for travel by RV. With most states having at least a bit of shoreline, there are no shortages of things to see and do and there are beaches galore to visit from coast to coast. For those who enjoy staying further inland, there are also plenty of places to stay and play. Traveling rom East to West, here are some ideas of places to stay that are sure to make your summer RV excursion truly memorable.
One of the things that makes this property great is that they offer not just rental sites but they also SELL sites for those who live close enough and want a more permanent spot for weekending. The sites are spacious and upkeep and maintenance are meticulous.
The activities and amenities here are unmatched in the area. There is a fully-stocked fishing lake, heated swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi and the majority of the space is open, tropical landscape. Pets are welcome here, too. There is even a fenced-in dog park so Rover can get his exercise and enjoy his vacation, too. Every modern convenience is seen to as well. Enjoy some of the many director-led activities or take advantage of the free WiFi.
The sense of seclusion here is a big plus for guests who like to take in the Gulf Coast attractions by day and enjoy a little more quiet by night. It is far enough off any main road to cancel out traffic noise but is close enough to area activities to make it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The park offers a few unique amenities like a 9-hole disc golf course and horseshoe pits. For the kids, there is a spacious play area and the entire family will enjoy a dip in their private pool.
Most sites here are pull-through with full 20/30/50 hookups. The facilities are also handicap accessible. Bay hideaway also welcomes pets and is central to area casinos, golf courses, beaches and fishing and an endless selection of great restaurants.
French Quarter RV resort is situated right in the middle of downtown New Orleans, less than ¼ mile from exit 235a off the I-10. You couldn’t ask for a better location than this. It is literally walking distance from many popular area attractions and provides a safe way to enjoy the party atmosphere in New Orleans without having to worry about driving or parking.
Rates do go up around certain special events like Mardi Gras and sites fill quickly so be sure to call way ahead. There are just 52 sites here but all are paved with dimensions of 30×60′ minimum. All sites have 2/30/50 hookups, access to WiFi and expanded basic cable. There is a clubhouse with rec room and fitness center, laundry and private baths and a deluxe saltwater pool and hot tub.
Colonia Del Rey is part of a network of area RV parks, but this one gets the consistently highest ratings. It is the perfect spot for an RV vacation any time of year. It is convenient to all area services and attractions including grocery stores, big-box retailers and favorite area activities like Dolphin Connection and more than a dozen 18-hole golf courses.
Onsite, visitors here enjoy pull-through sites up to 80′ long, sparkling clean restroom and shower facilities, heated pool and hot tub, cable and WiFi. The park can also accommodate large groups and features a spacious recreation hall for individual activities and group events.
Located just outside downtown Albuquerque, American RV Park is the top-rated RV park in the area, based on online visitor reviews. The park offers back-in and pull-through sites, some with premium amenities. These amenities include private picnicking areas with all electric, water, sewer, WiFi and cable. Visitors are invited to call for information on specific sites.
The property is beautifully landscaped and features all the basic services common to the area: heated swimming pool and spa, onsite game sites (like horseshoe pits) and other activities. There is also a full-service camp store and coin-operated laundromat onsite. There are also comfortable lodge accommodations that make for convenient event planning such as family reunions or larger family or corporate gatherings.
With so many great things to do in the south and so many great places to stay along the way, this summer could prove to be the adventure of a lifetime for the avid RV enthusiast, whether traveling across the country or just picking one spot for a week or two to camp and play.
